Acquisition Experience and Acquisition Success: Examining the Mediating Role of Acquisition Implementation and Mode Selection Capabilities

چکیده
Recent studies explore how firms’ experience with corporate acquisitions can influence acquisition outcomes and firm performance. Although discussion has focused on the idea that acquisition experience may improve performance by improving firms’ capability to implement acquisitions, little research has systematically tested the idea that acquisition implementation capabilities might mediate any impact of experience on performance. Moreover, the literature has paid little attention to an important preceding step, the selection of when acquisitions are appropriate to use as a means of obtaining targeted resources. This paper draws on the organizational learning literature to argue that acquisition experience improves firms’ ability to select acquisitions in appropriate governance conditions as well as their ability to implement acquisitions effectively. Using a sample of 162 acquisitions in the international telecommunications industry, we find that both types of acquisition capability increase with acquisition experience and, in turn, contribute to both acquisition success and long-term firm survival. We found that an apparent positive direct impact of acquisition experience on acquisition success disappears when one accounts for the mediators of acquisition selection and implementation capabilities.

The Effect of Interaction on Lexical Acquisition
This research showed that appropriate input and suitable contexts for interaction among students can lead to successful second language acquisition (SLA). This study based on Swain's (2005) notion of collaborative dialogue, aimed to study whether EFL learners participating in negotiation of meaning based tasks collaborate with each other and, if so, to investigate the role of this behavior in ...

This is a longitudinal case study of two Farsi-speaking children learning English: ‘Bernard’ and ‘Melissa’, who were 7;4 and 8;4 at the start of data collection. The research deals with the initial state and further development in the child second language (L2) acquisition of syntax regarding the presence or absence of copula as a functional category, as well as the role and degree of L1 influe...

Introduction: Low-frequency stimulation (LFS) has a delaying effect on kindled seizures acquisition. In the present study we examined the role of galanin receptors in the inhibitory effects of LFS on kindled seizures induced by electrical stimulation of perforant path. Methods: Animals were stimulated daily at the AD threshold intensity with a rapid kindling procedure. LFS was applied immed...
متن کاملThe Role of Corrective Feedback and Learning Styles on EFL Students’ Acquisition of Grammatical Structures
The role of oral corrective feedback has been investigated by SLA researchers from various perspectives. Focusing on Iranian EFL context, the present study aimed to explore the role of receiving corrective feedback in the learning of English grammatical structures. It also probed the association between the type of corrective feedback and EFL learners’ learning styles. This was an experimental ...
